Govt committed to address grievances of Kashmiri migrants : Veeri | KNO

Minister for Revenue, Disaster Management, Relief Rehabilitation & Reconstruction and Parliamentary Affairs Abdul Rehman Veeri today said that the government is committed to address the grievances of Kashmiri migrants with regard to relief and other basic amenities. The Minister was chairing a meeting of senior officers to discuss the issues concerning upgrading facilities at Kashmiri Migrant localities, here today. The meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary Revenue Shafiq Ahmed Raina, Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner M L Raina, Deputy Commissioner Relief K K Sidha, Executive Engineer Relief Organisation and other senior officers of concerned department. The Minister, while reviewing relief and rehabilitation issues of Kashmiri Migrants, directed the Executive Engineer to expedite the process of renovation and face lifting of Migrant flats at Jagti, Purkhoo, Nagrota, and various other places. He further directed to complete the works at earliest with special focus on improvement of sanitation and cleanliness in and around the residential areas. Veeri also discussed other aspects mainly related to relief, healthcare, water supply, electricity, ration, education and other basic amenities at these localities. Reviewing facilities related to healthcare, the Minister directed to ensure adequate supply of medicines and posting of staff at Jagti and other migrant camps. He was informed that the working hours of medical health centres have been extended upto 8 pm for the convenience of the people. He instructed the concerned engineers for keeping standby water pumps along with motors at Jagti to ensure hassle free water supply to the households. The Minister also reviewed the pace of ongoing construction work of flats at Vessu and Sheikhpora, Kashmir. It was informed that 48 flats at Sheikhpora will be completed by this month. The Minister directed to speed up the pace of construction work on remaining transitional accommodations. The Minister directed the concerned officers for early completion of Direct Benefit Transfer DBT system for transferring monthly relief directly into the bank accounts of Kashmiri migrants. He also directed the officers to ensure proper implementation of various initiatives and schemes undertaken for Kashmiri migrants.cleardot
